Ganja is the second largest city in the country after Baku. The area is famous for many mineral springs and unique medicinal oil – Naphthalan to treat naturally some dermatological, rheumatic and neurological diseases. The tourist from all over the world visits Ganja to admire Goygol which is a large lake with rich fish fauna surrounded by mountains. The color and the clarity of the water is striking – it is the purest of many mountain water basins in the Caucasus. The steep banks of Goygol are covered with dense oak and hornbeam forests.

Goygol Lake appeared in the aftermath of a natural disaster, an earthquake, due to which Kapaz Mount collapsed, blocking the water of Kurakchay River. Who would even imagine that such a beauty would appear as a result? Now turned into a National Park, Goygol lake is the favorite spot of tourists, picknickers, couples and whoever that want to enjoy the wonder of the nature. With its rich flora and fauna, the national park is a must-see sightseeing in Ganja.
