Azerbaijan and China Enhance Tourism Collaboration
Azerbaijan has recorded a significant increase in Chinese tourists, with 26,866 visitors from January to August 2024, more than double the previous year’s figures. This surge is attributed to a year-long visa exemption, increased direct flights, and focused marketing efforts.
Visa-Free Travel
From July 20, 2024, to July 20, 2025, Chinese citizens can travel to Azerbaijan without a visa for up to 30 days per visit, with a maximum of three visits annually.
Direct Flights
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) operates direct flights between Baku and Beijing, enhancing connectivity and convenience for travelers.
Tourism Promotions
The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), in collaboration with AZAL, organized events in Beijing on September 24, 2024, to strengthen tourism ties.
Additionally, a roadshow across four major Chinese cities—Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing—was conducted from September 18 to 24, 2024, to promote Azerbaijan’s tourism offerings.
These initiatives have led to a significant increase in Chinese tourists visiting Azerbaijan, with 26,866 visitors from January to August 2024, more than double the previous year’s figures.
